A surprise date

Amy staggered though her front door under the weight of all her bags shopping. She pushed the door shut with her boot before dumping everything on the table. As she started to unpack everything she started having yet another one of her daydreams about sonic. After standing at the table, staring into space, for nearly an hour, the doorbell rang, bringing Amy’s senses crashing back, and making her really angry that someone had had the nerve to disturb her dreams about her future life with sonic. She stomped over to the door and almost threw it open to reveal absolutely no-one standing there. She was just about to scream when she saw something lying on the door step. She bent over and picked it up. It was a letter. The paper was still warm so it couldn’t have been there long. She read it aloud to herself.
“Meet me in station square in 30 minutes, signed S”
Instantly Amy’s head filled with ideas of what sonic wanted to meet her for. Maybe it was a date, dinner, perhaps even a marriage proposal. But then she stopped herself before she got too carried away.
“Who says this letter’s from sonic. It just says S. that could mean sonic, or it might be shadow, or even that new guy silver. Oh, who cares, someone’s finally noticed me”
She completely forgot the rest of her shopping, which now lay forgotten on the table, and ran into her bedroom. She came out 15 minutes later wearing her best dress, jewellery and makeup. Then she left the house and headed for station square.

Meanwhile, sonic was standing under the tree in the main square of station square, pacing back and forth. He was thinking of what to say if Amy showed up. “If? More like when she shows up” thought
“Hi Amy, you got any plans for tonight, no that’s it. How about, hey Amy you look gorgeous, no, to girly. What about, hi Amy, do you want to go out with me tonight?”
He turned around and found himself staring right into Amy’s large eyes. He felt his jaw drop. “That wasn’t meant to happen” he thought to himself.
“Do you really mean it?” she asked, breathlessly.
“Err, yes” he replied.
The next thing he knew, Amy had linked her arm though his and was virtually dragging him back towards the city.
“Not quite what I had planned but, hey, it worked” sonic thought as Amy dragged him off.

A few hours later, the pair of them were sitting on the golden beach, looking out over the sapphire ocean at the setting sun, with one arm around each others waists, and the other hands holding on to some ice creams sonic had brought. They had gone to the theme park and been on every single ride, including the tunnel of love in which Amy was sure sonic kissed her on the cheek but he denied all knowledge of it, and had a go at every single side show, sonic had won Amy a stuffed bear prize from the arcade, they’d been to the cinema and watched a romantic film, they’d been shopping, Amy had brought herself a new coat, and they’d had a meal together, which had ended up as fish and chips on the beach because everywhere else was fully booked. The pair of them finished their ice creams and just sat there, in each others arms. Then Amy spoke suddenly.
“Sonic, how long have you loved me for?” she asked
“Seriously” sonic said. Amy nodded.
“I suppose it’s since I first met you” he replied.
“So, why has it taken you so long to admit it?” she asked.
Instead of answering, sonic pulled Amy closer and pressed his lips against hers. At first Amy was surprised, but then she closed her eyes and returned Sonics passion. As they separated, they looked into each others eyes, and then they moved forward and kissed again. As they pulled away, Amy pulled out her mobile and held it up to take a picture of her and sonic together. When she put it away the pair of them sat and looked at the setting sun for a few more minutes. After that Amy shrugged of her dress to reveal that she had been wearing her swimming costume under it all the time.
“Have you seriously been wearing that all this time” sonic asked
“Yeah”
“How come”
“Because I thought ahead. The tourist seasons not here yet, so we’ve got the whole beach to ourselves” she said. Then she jumped up, ran to the shore and jumped in the crystal blue sea. She was completely under water for a second, but then her head broke the surface of the water, her hair dripping wet and hanging over one eye.
“Come on in, the waters really warm” she shouted
“Come on Ames, you know I can’t swim”
“There’s no better time to learn” she went under again and came up again a few metres from where she started “catch me if you can” she called.
Sonic took a look along the beach, no one in sight. He took off his shoes, and then ran into the water after Amy.
