The Dragonic Adventures C1
Flame was lying on a thick woollen blanket on the golden sand of the beach. Behind him, the line of thick trees helped to keep the place secret. Flame knew exactly how to find though a series of carefully hidden hints he had found or made. The glaring sun was reflecting brightly off his bright red scales, making them shine and making the webbing of his wings appear to glow. Beside him, half buried in the sand, was a crystal glass of cold water and ice with a straw sticking out of it. It was enchanted using a spell Flame had learned in school, on the rare occasion that he paid attention, so that whatever was in it would stay at the same temperature as it started, meaning the water would stay cold. The old portable radio beside it blasting out some loud music, drowning out the sound of the birds and waves. Flame took a long drink from the straw and rolled over onto his back. As he laid his head back onto his backpack, he muttered to himself.
This is how life should be. No nagging parents, no homework and no chores
He used his tail to start absent-mindedly switching though the channels on the radio. After a while he returned to the original channel and rolled over again. He pulled himself over the backpack so it was under his middle and started to build a sand-castle. As soon as he finished it, he took a minute to look at it, with its impressive four corner spires and detailed little gate, before engulfing the whole construct with his fire breath. He watched as the magic inferno turned the castle into pure, transparent glass. He grinned in satisfaction, pulled the backpack back up to his head, rolled over again and turned the radio off before closing his emerald eyes.
After a while, Flame became aware of something above him. He opened his eyes and found himself staring right into another pair of eyes that were as blue as the sky. He recognised them instantly.
How did you find me, Crystal?
Girl instincts She replied in a high voice, moving away. Flame rolled over and looked at her, flinching as the sun blasted blindingly off the pink silk strip wrapped around her neck and the shiny pink scales on her back. As Flames eyes grew accustomed to the sun again he looked at her again.
Any particular reason you came all this way? he asked
I was lonely back home. So I thought Id come and see if you wanted some company out here she said walking up to him.
Well I was kinda hoping for some time alone for a
he said, before Crystal cut him off.
I knew youd want me to stay with you she replied as she moved up next to him and pressed up against his side. As she did so, she noticed Flames glass sand-castle.
Oh, wow. Did you make that for me?
Um
Thats so sweet of you. Its beautiful. I wish I could take it with me. I always knew you cared about me she lay her head down on Flames neck, and closed her eyes.
Flame, could you do something for me? she asked, quietly
I suppose so Flame replied
Could you, maybe, walk me home? I kinda found you here by accident
Flame smiled.
Well, alright then. But you have to promise not to tell anyone about this place
Ok then, itll be our little secret. A nice secluded area for our honeymoon, right?
Yeah
sure, let me just pick up my stuff Flame replied, unsure if encouraging her was a good idea. He finished off his drink before putting it back into his backpack, along with the towel and radio, and swinging it up onto his back. He set off for the tree line with Crystal walking alongside him, keeping close to him under one of his wings.
